Town Symbols: Each Kidemona has a symbol that proclaims them Kidemon. The symbols can be in the form of a tattoo, a necklace, a ring, etc. The symbols are below. --Kissan; the Catnip flower --Fia; Poppy --Karhu; Bluebells --Linnut; Snapdragons --Blaid; Wolf's Bane (these are only known to the Kidemon)
Kidemon Development Cycle: --Birth to Adolescence (birth - 12/13): All children have no animal traits or animal tendencies. They are as normal as any other human child. There is no distinction between the humans or shifters at this point.
--Adolescence to Adulthood (12/13 - 17-21): The most crucial of all times for the Kidemon. This period is very difficult for Kidemon. During this stage their hormones and the magic in their blood mix and react to each other violently. Frequent uncontrollable changing occurs during this period. Also, emotions seem to be enhanced and stronger. All human emotions including lust, anger, and fear are amplified.
Animal tendencies such as: territorial urges and controlling behavior as well as the need to protect, appear. These tendencies change depending on the person. If the person is destined to become an Alpha, or behave like an Alpha, they may feel the need to become dominate over those around it or have the uncontrollable urge to protect and provide for their friends.
Also, the five senses increase. They can scent emotions and species, can hear small sounds from far away, etc.
--Adulthood to Death (18-21 - death): This stage is where the body plateaus. It has accepted the animal transformation and now can control the urge to change. Changes usually only occur at will but if the emotions of fear, anger, or stress are extreme transformations may occur.
Transformations: --All transformations depend on the person themselves. The transformation is a reflection on the person's subconscious. If the person is dark in nature they may have a crackling, black display of light. If the person was sweet and frivolous then their transformation would be warm and pleasurable.
Pregnancy: --Should a pair of Kidemona have a child, the offspring will have a fifty-percent chance of either being a shifter of being human. Say, a Mountain Lion kidmona and a Human mated, and had a child; they child would have a 50% chance of either becoming a Mountain Lion Shifter or a Human.
--If a Kidemona of two different species, such as a wolf and a bear mated and managed to produce a child, the child's species would be based on the most dominant animal. (This is up to the RPers to decide)
--Occasionally, two full-blooded Kidemona will have a child, and it will never have the ability to shapeshift like the rest of the family. There is about a twenty-five percent chance of this happening. The child will be treated as though it was a human, and cannot learn of the Kidemon species.
--Twins and triplets are allowed, but let's keep the numbers down people. We don't want too many babies running around. You need to ask the owner of the alpha is having triplets is good for them. Overpopulation you know. Not good.
--Pregnancy lasts nine months unless something happens to induce a premature birth.
--Your character must be at least 19 years of age before they can conceive children. Human or Kidemon. Yeah yeah. We know. People now a days are having kids at 14-15. So what? That's not the kind of atmosphere we are trying to promote on here. So unless you have explicit permission from Cadmium or Soul AND the permission of the alpha of that tribe, don't even think about it. 50 is the cutoff date for getting pregnant.
--After the female becomes pregnant, she MUST stay in human form for fear of harming the baby during a shift.
Ceremonies: -- INITIATION; The first ceremony a Kidemona would undergo, is the ceremony that recognizes them as part of their clan. The Kidemon perform this ceremony when they have entered Adult hood. -Details: In this ceremony the entire clan gathers at the Alpha's house. Once assembled outside in a concealed location, the clan surrounds the Alpha and the Kidemona that is undergoing the ceremony. The Kidemona and Alpha face each other, while surrounded by the clan. The Alpha bites a wound into his or her palm allowing the blood to stain their hand. They then proclaim their servitude as the Alpha to the future member. "I, the Alpha of the Blaid Pack proclaim you, Marie Ann Lockwood, as a member of this pack. I promise to protect you and provide for you. If I break my word, my blood will be my punishment." The Kidemona in turn bites into his or her palm. They repeat the words, "I, Marie Ann Lockwood, as a Kidemona proclaim you, Jack Robert Turner, as my Alpha of the Blaid Pack. I promise you my loyalty. If I break my word, my blood will be my punishment." Then the Kidemona and Alpha clasp hands, allowing their blood to mingle. After words, the Alpha gives the new member a symbol of the pack. [Look up Town Symbols] -- FORMAL MATING; A second ceremony that a Kidemona could under go would be the mating ceremony. It is exactly like the initiation ceremony, but with a few exceptions. (This is the formal ceremony that includes the clan, there is a second ceremony that a mated pair will undergo privately.)
-Details: Everything is akin to the initiation ceremony except that instead of a Kidemona and Alpha in the center is the two Kidemonas (or Kidemona and Human) that wish to be bonded. The sentences that both repeat are: "I, Jack Robert Turner, proclaim you, Marie Ann Lockwood, my mate. -here a person can insert their own words such as 'I promise to love you' or 'forever'-" The other mate in turn repeats the same words. Usually, after the bonded pair has clasped hands, they kiss in celebration.
--INFORMAL MATING; The informal mating is not preformed in front of the clan. It usually consists of consummation of their union and a bite mark proclaiming that they have been mated.
-Details: In this ceremony the mated pair are alone. They consummate their union then mark each other. [bitemark on the juncture between the shoulder and neck] This mark proclaims that they have been mated.
--DEATH CEREMONY; Due to speculation that could be caused among humans if someone in their town died and was not buried, there is no death ceremony. The closest thing would be a pack gathering at the Alpha's house where the Alpha shares peaceful words about their lost loved one.
Miscellaneous Information: --Kidemon can live in towns other than their species capitol. Such as, a Black Bear, can live in the city of Linnut, where the Birds live. This is natural, if slightly uncommon, as Kidemona work human jobs, and it is normal for a human job to transfer it's workers. Which is the reason for the "Firstname Lastname, ___-hena." greeting.
